The development of the former St. Peter’s School (aka Corpus Christi) site including the demolition of the former secondary school to provide a total of 69 new build social housing units, consisting of 59 general needs units, 2 complex needs units and 8 apartments.
The challenge for this project was working with the design team to maximise land use and site density, given the significant level differences that existed across the site. This meant that the need for expensive retaining structures had to be carefully managed and minimised to maintain cost control and value for money. This was achieved by working to existing site gradients where possible, while also ensuring individual plot sizes could facilitate adequate garden space for each dwelling.
